Duties
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash transactions, including processing payments, giving change, and issuing receipts.
  • Prepare and serve food items according to established recipes and food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter area, including wiping down surfaces, restocking supplies, and sanitizing equipment.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks, such as slicing vegetables or assembling sandwiches.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely order fulfillment and maintain smooth operations.
  • Previous experience in food service or customer service is preferred.
  • Knowledge of POS systems for order processing and cash handling is a plus.
  • Ability to handle food safely and follow proper hygiene practices.
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and order calculations.
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Key responsibilities
  • Grill meats, vegetables, and other sandwich fillings according to customer preferences and restaurant standards.
  • Assemble hoagies by layering grilled ingredients, toppings, and condiments in the proper portions.
  • Monitor grill and cooking equipment to ensure food is prepared at the correct temperatures and cooked to perfection.
  • Toast hoagie rolls and breads to achieve the desired crispness and texture.
  • Handle multiple orders simultaneously in a fast-paced line service environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized grill station, adhering to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
  • Manage the stock of grill ingredients, reporting low inventory to management.
  • Communicate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing any special requests or dietary needs.
  • Assist with other kitchen duties as needed, including prep work, cleaning, and dishwashing during downtime.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a grill cook or in a similar kitchen position.
  • Proficiency in grilling techniques, including managing cooking times and temperatures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure consistency in quality and portion control.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and proper sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and manage several orders at once without compromising quality.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in sandwich or hoagie preparation.
  • Culinary certification or training in food handling.
  • Familiarity with line service or open kitchen environments.

Please note that this position may require standing for long periods of time and occasional lifting of heavy objects. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is also preferred.
